Tell Your County Council to Ditch the Sewer Mandate!

Dear County Councilor and County Executive McCarthy,

I am contacting you to voice my opposition to the recently announced policy of mandatory connections to the county’s sanitary sewer system and the requirement to abandon the property owner’s septic system.

The enormous cost to homeowners would cause severe hardships on many families that will be affected by this mandate. In addition to the $6000.00 connection fee, affected residents could be forced to pay thousands of dollars to drain and fill their septic tanks, pay a possible “benefit assessment” fee, and hire a plumbing contractor to do any work needed to make the switch to public sewer. The total cost could easily exceed $20,000.

This is an outrageous example of government overreach and an assault on private property rights.

As your constituent, I urge you to take immediate action to protect homeowners from this financially burdensome and unnecessary policy.
